El Caldito Soup Kitchen offers many volunteer opportunities to give back to the community. If you like leading a crew in the kitchen, chopping and dicing, making soup, picking up donations from local markets, serving our clients, or want to learn any of these skills, El Caldito can use you! Hours and days are flexible, and you can volunteer as little or as often as you like. VOLUNTEER
CAN YOU HELP US FEED THOSE IN NEED?
El Caldito Soup Kitchen relies on volunteers to prepare and serve the day’s meal and assist with cleaning at the end of service. Monday through Friday we serve a full meal that includes soup, entrée & sides, salads, and dessert.
Starting at 8:00 AM, our industrious volunteers arrive and prepare the day’s meal. Service starts at 11:30 AM and closes at 1:00 PM, except for Saturday’s service which is 11:30AM to 12:30PM.
Clean-up follows and most volunteers are out the door by 1:30 PM. Volunteer opportunities are flexible and can be designed to fit your schedule.
You can volunteer for a specific day each week, once a month, on an “as available” basis. You can volunteer for a full shift that includes food prep & service, or for food prep only or service only.
VOLUNTEERS FOR GLEANING
We also rely on volunteers for the Gleaning Committee. These are volunteers who gather food donations from local sources such as supermarkets, restaurants, etc.
El Caldito Soup Kitchen supplies the van and the locations for the day’s pick-up. Gleaners generally collect the food donations during the mornings, leaving for pick-up around 7:30 AM and returning around 10:00 AM.
VOLUNTEERS TO SERVE ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
We can always use community-minded individuals who are interested in serving on our Board of Directors. Do you have the talent and desire to serve on the Board of a non-profit organization? Are you looking for ways to make for a more meaningful retirement?
DONATIONS
The need continues to increase as we are currently serving over 145,000 meals/year. Our food supplies are donated by local supermarkets, restaurants, local farmers, individuals, organizations, and government agencies.
We greatly appreciate these donations as it allows for us to fulfill our mission of “Feeding the Hungry” but as our needs increase, we always welcome donations from community members. Some of the needed donations include:
- Seasoning/Spices
- Breakfast foods
- Salad dressings
- #10 cans of fruits and vegetables
- Olive Oil
- Vegetable Oil
- Liquid laundry detergent
- Fabric softener sheets
- Dish towels

Monday through Friday: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Saturday: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Sunday: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
